Day 12

Hi All,
Sue & I rode from Amherst N.S. to Bangor Maine today.
We stopped in St. Andrew New Brunswick for lunch. We were told by some motorcyclists we met in Cape Breton that the best seafood chowder was at Elaine's Chowder House in St. Andrew,so we went there. It was very good, but I think the best seafood chowder I had so far was at the Best Western in North Sydney Nova Scotia. Any how we are in Bangor Maine at the Howard Johnson's.

Day 11

Hi Everybody,
Sue & I took the midnight ferry from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia. We were on a waiting list for a cabin, and luckily we got one. I slept a little, but Sue says she couldn't sleep because of my snoring. The ferry got into Nova Scotia at 7:00 am. We stopped in Baddock for breakfast and got back on the road. We made it to Amherst, right on the border with New Brunswick, and called it a day.

Last I wrote I said we were going to explore the side roads going to the shore of Newfoundland. Boy are we glad we did!!!! It was spectacular! We went to Blow Me Down Park, that's right that's the name. Then we went to Cape St. George, which is at the end of the Port Au Port Peninsula. Incredible!!!! We finally got into Port-Aux-Basques around 8:30 pm, and hung out at the St.Christopher Hotel until we had to board the ferry.

Day 10

Hello Again,
Sue & I are at the Greenwood Hotel in beautiful downtown Corner Brook.
Corner Brook is a good sized city. The biggest we have came across. It's certainly the biggest in Newfoundland that we have been to. Today we are going to head down to Port-Aux-Basques for the ferry, but the ferry does not leave until midnight. So we are going to ride all the side roads to the shoreline off the highway.

Day 9 Monday

Hey Everybody,
The last time we checked in we thought we were stranded in Port Auv Basques due to rain. We landed there on the ferry Friday Night. We arrived in the rain and woke to it again on Saturday. While we had resolved ourselves to staying there one more night the desk clerk let us know a couple we were speaking to Saturday morning had phoned in by cell phone to tell us the drive North had cleared quite a bit.
So on the bikes we jumped and off to Trout River. Trout River is the town we stayed in on Saturday. It was an incredible drive trough the Tablelands. The Tableland is a deep valley of green Mountainous area to one side and a brown Mtn. to the other that looks like it just pushed through the Earths surface. I'll have to google Tablelands when I get home.It was in Trout River Saturday Night that we found out that our clan has just grown by two more.Jennifer and Joseph were born Saturday Night about 5pm. Sally is OK and the babies will be in for at least 6 weeks. They are both close to 3lbs each and things are pretty good but of course guarded for the first week or so....say your prayers.
After waking Sunday we took off in a light rain that became more steady as we drove on.We stopped in St Paul just short of Cow Head NL which is the end of Gros Morne National Park. Gros Morne park is absolutely beautiful!!

We left Monday again in the rain but soon it cleared and we are sitting in a campground on a park bench stealing their wireless and updating the blog.
Tonight we are staying in Corner Brook and then slowly heading back to the Ferry for the midnight run back to Nova Scotia on Tuesday.

Day 7

Hi Everybody,
Well our luck ran out. We are stuck in Port-Aux-Basques Newfoundland at the St. Christopher's Hotel. It's pouring rain, windy, and cold.We will stay here an extra night and hopefully be on the road tommorrow. They are having a big wedding here tonight, Sue & I are thinking maybe they will invite us. If they dont we will catch a cab, that's right they have taxis in Port-Aux-Basques, to the local cinema and go see the Simson's movie. One good thing about this, we can do our laundry.

Day 7

Hi Everyone,
Sue & I are on the SS Caribou.
The SS Caribou is the ferry to Port-a-Basques, Newfoundland from North Sydney Nova Scotia. There is internet access but again I can't post pictures. I read the comments everybody wrote. I really enjoy them. Mom to answer your question, those people in the picture are a group of Cape Breton motorcyclists who were hanging out at the Tim Horton's.They were really nice and a fun bunch. We ended up hanging with
them for a couple of hours. That Tim Horton's was right before the causeway heading over to Cape Breton.

Quick description of the previous pictures

The top picture is on top of Cadillac Mountain. One of them is the rooster tail off the back of the Cat, the ferry to Nova Scotia from Bar Harbor Maine. The camping picture is from a campsite in Northwood New Hampshire.

We are having a blast!!!! Yesterday we rode the Cabot Trail, by far the most incredible road I have ever riden. It's a combination of the Gaspe and the Blue Ridge.
The weather has been great, today was the first rain we have encountered, and we are on the SS Caribou, and it's 6 to 7 hours to cross.

Hi everyone,
We are in Shelburne Nova Scotia!!!
We came over on the Cat. We stopped at an info centre and they had free internet access. There computer would not let me upload pictures so I will post some later.
All is well, the weather has been great, the roads excellent, and the scenery has been awesome.

We spent two days riding around Arcadia National Park in Maine. We went to the top of Cadillac Mountain, we also ate a lot of lobsta, and some great clam chowda.

We will be camping outside of Halifax tonight in Peggy's Cove.
See-Ya Soon.

The Plan

O.K. here's the plan.
Sue and I will first ride to Arcadia National Forest in Maine.
After spending a couple of days riding around there we will catch the "Cat" to Nova Scotia.
Then we will ride the southern coast over to Cape Bretton and ride the Cabot Trail.
Next we will catch the ferry to Newfoundland and ride the western coast to the top of the Northern Peninsula.
We will ride the same way back to the ferry and back to Nova Scotia.
We will then ride the northern route into New Brunswick, then back into Maine, then home.
Over all approx. miles 2800 to 3000 in 12 to 14 days.
Sue and I are both very excited and can't wait to get going.
