Some more pictures

Last Days

Well, we are home. We left Medway Maine Sunday morning in a light drizzle. The route we decided to take was different then the one we took up. We exited Rt 95 just outside of Bangor and took Rt 2 west.
Rt 2 is a very nice road especially once you get into the mountains.

When we crossed into New Hampshire we enter the White Mountains. Once there we took Rt 16 south.  The rain really started to come down hard so we stopped for the night in Jackson, N.H. We had a nice dinner there, then later we went to the Dairy Queen for some ice cream. When we were walking back out to the car we noticed some folks taking pictures. There was a black bear! The bear had knocked over the trash and was helping itself to a snack. Unfortunately  we didn't have our cameras.

Yesterday morning the sun was out, and we hit the road. We crossed the Kancamagus Hwy. Which is an incredible road that crosses the White Mountains. This was the first time for Cindy and Alan and they really enjoyed it. Sue & I told them that we really could spend a whole week up here. Not a bad road anywhere. Hmmm maybe another road trip in the future?

After the "Kanc" we made our way over to Rt 91 to head home. Cindy & Alan split off onto Rt 89 to catch Rt 4 west, and so on to head back to Ohio. Good bye you two and safe travels.

This was another excellent trip. Yes, it would have been better if Sue could have rode her BMW up, but  we had a great time anyway. As always the people we met along the way were very nice. Peter & Joan at the Ocean Haven Resort in Belle Cote, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia were so nice and very helpful. The cabin we rented was great and very clean. We had everything we needed there. We highly recommend staying there if you ever get up there. I know we will. In fact we ran into some folks from Ct. in P.E.I. later and when they told us they were headed to Cape Breton next we told them to go there. Again great place & great people!!

Of course the Cabot Trail did not disappoint. Out of the roads I've ridden this road has to be my favorite. It's just incredible!!!

P.E.I was nice but unfortunately the placed we stayed there was not so nice. Other then that we enjoyed P.E.I. very much. In all fairness we'll have to go back there when we have more time to explore the whole Island. Truthfully we all liked Cape Breton better.

Riding The "Island"

Today Cindy, Alan, & I rode the North East Coastal Drive. It loops around the Eastern part of P.E.I.
We rode to the North Cape which is the Northern most point in P.E.I. Very nice ride. Although it's called the Coastal Drive it wasn't right on the coast. For the most part we were riding through farms.
Very large farms, like the potato farms in O'Leary. We would be riding through these farms then all of a sudden there was the water.

When we could see the coast there where these red cliffs that dropped right down to the water. Occasionally there would be a dirt road leading down to the cliffs but we didn't take any of them.
The 3 of us also rode down to West Point, not that one, this was the Southern part of this "Drive"
We met these 2 couples there from CT. Small world. They were riding motorcycles too. Really nice folks, we ended up talking with them for about an hour or so. Through out this whole ride there were  large windmills everywhere. Very cool!

In the mean time Sue was riding her bicycle around Cavindish and the surrounding area. She rode to a couple of different beaches. She really enjoyed that.

We all met up later and went out for a late dinner. Very nice day.

Some pictures.

Destination P.E.I.

Today we left our cabin in Belle Cote, Cape Breton and rode over to P.E.I.
We left around 8:30 am. after Sue made us a nice breakfast.
Before we rode over the Canso Causeway back to mainland Nova Scotia we stopped to see the tall ships in Port Hawkesbury. They were amazing. Some of these ships will be heading down the East coast. Eventually they will be stopping in Bridgeport.

After seeing the ships, off we went towards Pictou to catch the ferry to P.E.I.
The ferry took about 75 minutes to cross. Once in P.E.I. we headed west on Trans Canada 1 right into Charlottestown. The capitol city of P.E.I. We got a little lost there because there were no signs leading us to Rt 2. The road to Cavendish. We stopped for gas asked the attendant and he gave us the directions.

Eventually we made it to our hotel. We arrived in Cavendish around 4:00 pm. After unloading the stuff we piled into Sue's cage and went to dinner. Of course we had seafood. After that we drove by the Ann of Green Gables House, but by the time we got there it was closed.

More later. Here are some pictures.

Yesterday's Ride.

Yesterday we rode south of here towards Baddeck. Once we entered Baddeck we got off the "Trail" and went on Rt. 205 which runs along a large lake named, Bras D Or, it was beautiful. Eventually we went to the top of Kelly's Mountain and stopped at the St. Ann's Overlook.
What an incredible view from up there.

From there went back down and crossed on the Englishtown Ferry, which crosses the St. Patrick's Channel. We then rode Rt. 312 back to the Cabot Trail.

While riding back we stopped at the Gaelic College.  What a great place Cindy bought some really nice handmade jewelery. There a young man was playing the bagpipes in the parking lot. He told Alan & I how that set of bagpipes have been in his family since the 1800's. Very interesting.

A beautiful young women with long red hair told us of this great place to eat right down the road called the Lobster Gallery. Very good, the best Seafood Chowder so far.

By the timed we returned to our cabin, it started raining. So we hung out there for a while. Later we went to a place across the street, where they had a steak & ale special and a live Celtic band.
Great food and good music.

Bye for now.

Enjoying The "Trail"

One of the many great spots along the Cabot Trail.

It's Really Heaven.

"My God this is incredible!"

That was everyone's reaction once we started riding the "Trail". The Cabot Trail that is.
The 4 of us rode north from Belle Cote around the top of the Island and back down to Ingonish.
What a great ride with incredible views over looking the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Sue & I actually rode 2 up on the Harley. Sue & the Harley handle it very well.  When we started to get hungary we stopped in Neil's Harbor, at a place called the Chowder House. The seafood was excellent.

We will be riding in the other direction today.

Here is some pictures from the ride.

Very Long Day

Hi All,

We left Medway Maine just after 8:00 am. We arrived at our cabin in Belle Cote, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia around 10:00 pm. It was all highway until we crossed the Canso Causeway. Which is the only way to enter Cape Breton other then by boat. Once we were on Cape Breton we took rt 19 up the west coast.

Although we were tired and frazzled, once we were on the island our mood changed for the better. The ride became much, much nicer, and scenic. Riding while overlooking the water while the sun was setting was breathtaking.  We are here and we are safe.

Sue made us breakfast morning, thanks Sue!!

More later. Here a some pictures.

Bad Start!

Well, we were all excited to get going on Friday afternoon, but the weather SUCKED!!!!
So we decided to leave early this morning. Sue & I told Cindy & Alan we would meet them at 7:00 am at the B&B they were staying at.

We get up early have our coffee and a quick breakfast. Then we get dressed and finish packing.
Load up the bikes, pull them out of the garage. Hop on.... Sue's bike wont start.

Are you freakin' kidding me!!!!!! I think o.k. the battery. So we unload everything off her bike so we can get to the battery. Hook up the charger/booster, and the battery is fine. SHIT!!!!! It's the starter!
I call the dealer, who doesn't open till 9:00 by the way. Of course they don't have one in stock.

"We can have one here for Weds" the guy says." Nevermind" I say.
Plan B, Sue takes her car instead.

We finally get on the road about 10:30, and ride until 8:00 pm.
We are in Medway Maine for the night

I'm tired
Good night!

Here We Go !

Well, well.

I know it's been a while but we are finally going on a ride again.

Let me give you a brief preview of what we are about to do.

We will be heading North to Canada. Specifically Cape Breton Nova Scotia. We rented a cabin for 4 nights there. Then we will head to Prince Edward Island for 2 more nights.

Our very good friends Cindy & Alan will be joining us. We are very happy and excited about that.

We will try to update the blog everyday. I will be bringing my GoPro camera this time so I will be posting some videos too. We hope that everyone will follow along and post comments, but most of all enjoy the ride!
