Hey Everybody,
The last time we checked in we thought we were stranded in Port Auv Basques due to rain. We landed there on the ferry Friday Night. We arrived in the rain and woke to it again on Saturday. While we had resolved ourselves to staying there one more night the desk clerk let us know a couple we were speaking to Saturday morning had phoned in by cell phone to tell us the drive North had cleared quite a bit.
So on the bikes we jumped and off to Trout River. Trout River is the town we stayed in on Saturday. It was an incredible drive trough the Tablelands. The Tableland is a deep valley of green Mountainous area to one side and a brown Mtn. to the other that looks like it just pushed through the Earths surface. I'll have to google Tablelands when I get home.It was in Trout River Saturday Night that we found out that our clan has just grown by two more.Jennifer and Joseph were born Saturday Night about 5pm. Sally is OK and the babies will be in for at least 6 weeks. They are both close to 3lbs each and things are pretty good but of course guarded for the first week or so....say your prayers.
After waking Sunday we took off in a light rain that became more steady as we drove on.We stopped in St Paul just short of Cow Head NL which is the end of Gros Morne National Park. Gros Morne park is absolutely beautiful!!
We left Monday again in the rain but soon it cleared and we are sitting in a campground on a park bench stealing their wireless and updating the blog.
Tonight we are staying in Corner Brook and then slowly heading back to the Ferry for the midnight run back to Nova Scotia on Tuesday.

The Atherton Tableland is a fertile plateau which is part of the Great Dividing Range in Queensland, Australia. It is located west to south-south-west inland from Cairns, well into the tropics, but its elevated position provides a climate suitable for dairy farming. it has an area of around 32,000 km² with an avaerage altitude between 600 and 900m AHD.
The principal river flowing across the plateau is the Barron River, which was dammed to form an irrigation reservoir named Lake Tinaroo.
The area was originally explored for its mining potential where deposits of tin and a little gold were found.
Gros Morne National Park is a world heritage site located on the west coast of Newfoundland. At 1,805 km² (697 sq. mi.), it is the second largest national park in Atlantic Canada (surpassed by Torngat Mountains National Park's 9,600 km²).
The park takes its name from Newfoundland's second-highest mountain peak (at 2,644 feet (806 m)) located within the park. Its French meaning is "large mountain standing alone," or more literally "great sombre." Gros Morne is a member of the Long Range Mountains, an outlying range of the Appalachian Mountains, stretching the length of the island's west coast. It is the worn-down remnants of a mountain range formed 1.2 billion years ago.
The Gros Morne National Park Reserve was established in 1973. It wasn't until October 1, 2005 that the National Parks Act was to apply to the reserve, thereby making it a Canadian National Park.
Newfoundlanders pronounce the name of the park 'gross morn'.
Hey Dan,
That's some great info
